ToT – Training of Trainers, within project EU 4 Better Civil Protection

After the successful implementation of all activities from work package 1 and 2 of the Project, through work package 2 entitled “Training for intervention and rescue units/units”, in Sarajevo from 10/18/2022.-10/22/2021. the last planned “Training of Trainers” training was held in the Holiday Hotel as part of the “EU for Better Civil Protection” project.

Goals

The primary goals of the Trainer Training were:

Basic understanding of educational theory, group dynamics and effective communication methods

Knowledge of specific training needs in relation to disaster management
Development of individual skills in public speaking
Developing group skills in training assessment, design, preparation, management and monitoring
Development of the ability to organize a disaster simulation exercise
Overall guidance and management of training.

At the Training of Trainers, 20 representatives of Project beneficiaries participated (representatives from the Republican Administration of Civil Protection of Republika Srpska, representatives from the Federal Administration of Civil Protection, representatives of the Ministry of Security of BiH and representatives of the Department of Public Security of the Brčko District of BiH).

The trainers’ training was attended by experts who were trained in work packages 1 and 2 (including field exercises) and participate (or will participate) in the preparation and implementation of the training that is carried out in the protection and rescue system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Considering the epidemiological situation, to participate in the Coach Training it was mandatory to get vaccinated against COVID-19, or to bring a negative PCR test, not older than 48 hours, upon arrival.

The trainer’s training was held at the Holiday Hotel in Sarajevo, where accommodation was organized for the participants who needed accommodation.


The Training of Trainers began as the last training within the EU project for better civil protection. The lecture is conducted by an eminent lecturer, M.Sc. Igor Milić, engaged by the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia, and academician PhD Nedžad Korajlić of the Association for Risk Management. During the training, participants were educated on the following topics:

Introduction to disaster management training
Introduction to disaster management training – exercise
Presentation skills
Presentation skills – practice

On this occasion, the president of the AZUR Association welcomed the participants of the training on behalf of the consortium of the Civil Protection Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of Croatia and the Association for Risk Management and wished the participants successful and constructive work, while strengthening their own skills and competences in the field of protection and rescue, as well as the exchange of mutual knowledge and experience.

The first day of the training was spent in a constructive atmosphere, and the participants and the lecturer were highly motivated to work.


The training of trainers continued. During training, participants were educated on the following topics:

“Communication skills” exercise
Challenges in training implementation
Trainings and group work
Assessment of training needs – level of organization
Training preparation – exercise
Training implementation methods and approach
Summary of the second day
Preparation for the next day

The training days also took place in a constructive atmosphere, and the participants and the lecturer were highly motivated to work.
