Water Rescue training in Banja Luka

Water Rescue training will be held in Banja Luka in the period 29.06.2021. – 02.07.2021., within the project EU 4 Better Civil Protection – Capacity Building and preparation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

Training participants are representatives from civil protection authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina that will have the opportunity to learn about NFPA standards, personal and group equipment, risk assessments, Rescue 3, medical considerations and decontamination, theoretical and practical part of the lifeline, walking in shallow water, anchorages, mechanical advantage, rescue from vehicles, rapid release system, mooring and positioning of vessels, searches and helicopter.

Lecturers and instructors are experts from the Civil Protection Directorate Ministry of Interior Republic of Croatia as well as from Croatian Mountain Rescue Service.

During the mentioned period, the participants practically went through water rescue activities where they showed their skills and acquired knowledge, which ended the process of checking their competence for water rescue activities. The conducted training is very important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a country that is very rich in water resources, especially having in mind the fact that in Bosnia and Herzegovina on several occasions there were floods that caused great material damage. Upon completion of the training activities in the field of water rescue, participants were awarded certificates for successful completion of the training.

The training is part of the project activities carried out with the aim of training civil protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina to prepare for the final exercise, which will be conducted at the location of Banja Luka, as a final operational activity in the EU project for better civil protection in BiH.

The exercise was conducted successfully, with high application of protection measures against Covid 19, and personal and collective protection against injuries.
The trainers and participants express their gratitude to the European Union for financing the project, especially bearing in mind the fact that protection and rescue is of particular interest to all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

About the project:

The project is funded by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), and the duration of the project is from 01.03.2019. to 01.11.2021.

The project consists of five work packages. The overall goal of the Project is to reduce vulnerability to natural and other disasters, at all levels of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
